ABRHS is pleased to be able to offer an in-person commencement ceremony for the class of 2021. Through collaboration with our local Boards of Health and in compliance with State regulations, we are certain that we are able to hold this event safely. Please review the information below regarding the graduation ceremony.


Arrival & Parking

  • Parking areas open at 4:30PM and gates open at 4:45PM

  • Parking for one vehicle per Graduate will be provided in the parking areas closest to the assigned entry gate. See the parking map for additional details.

  • You will be assigned an entrance gate on your ticket. "Blue Gate" ticket holders may park in the three-tiered Senior Lot adjacent to the High School. "Gold Gate" ticket holders may park their vehicle in the Junior High West Staff lot, or the two tiered parking lot along Charter road. A diagram of the parking and entrance layout will be made available prior to the graduation ceremony.

  • For graduates/families that have requested handicapped access, a special parking pass will be provided when the student picks up their tickets. For those with a parking pass, accessible parking for the blue gate will be provided in the top tier, closest to the woodland path entrance gate. For gold gate accessible spaces, the area near the JHS loading dock will be set aside. For either gate, look for signs designating "Handicapped Parking" and be prepared to show your parking pass to the staff parking attendant.

  • For additional vehicles, parking is available on a first-come-first-served basis elsewhere on campus including HS Staff lots, and Parker Damon Building parking areas.

Tickets & Entry

  • Tickets for graduation will be given to students at a mandatory graduation rehearsal on June 1st. Each registered guest of a graduate will need their ticket to enter the ceremony. Your tickets will be color-coded and designate the entrance gate and pod number.

  • We ask that graduates and their guests arrive together. All guests must have a ticket for entry. Please make sure that you give any guest who is not arriving with your party their ticket prior to graduation.

  • We will have two entrance gates for graduation. Groups with blue tickets should enter at the blue gate which is adjacent to the Senior Parking Lot near the wooded path to the field. Groups with gold tickets should enter at the Leary Field Ticket Booth entrance (behind RJ Grey). A diagram of the parking and entrance layout will be made available prior to the graduation ceremony.

  • Once you arrive on the field, ushers will be available to help you find your seats.


In accordance with guidance from local and state health officials, graduation on Leary field will take on a different layout from previous years. Graduates and their pre-registered guests will be seated together on the field in "pods." Although the chairs within each pod will be tightly spaced, no two chairs within adjacent pods will be less than six feet apart to maintain social distance from other groups. The graduate will sit in the front of each pod, while up to six pre-registered guests may sit behind them. Unfortunately due to space and distancing requirements, the event is closed to the public and only pre-registered/ticketed guests may attend so no additional seating will be available. Masks & Social Distancing

In accordance with State and Local guidelines, Face masks are optional for all staff, graduates and guests, but encouraged for all attendees who are NOT vaccinated.

We will ensure separation of 6 feet or more between individuals or household/groups where and when possible.

Due to the social distancing requirement, graduates and guests will not be permitted to congregate on the field before or after the ceremony.

Photography/Video Broadcast/Live Stream

Mark Lawrence Photographers will be at our graduation capturing all of the special moments including the diploma handoff to your student. Video production services will be provided for both in-person attendees and those that cannot attend. Large outdoor video screens will be positioned for the attendees, and the event will be broadcast on public access cable TV for Acton/Boxborough Comcast and Verizon subscribers. Other Important Details


Portable Restrooms will be located on the field. Additional restrooms can be accessed in the RJ Grey Junior High School building.


No Food or Drink is permitted at graduation.

Weather/Rain Delay

If the weather for graduation looks to be heavy rain, thunder/lightning, we will make the decision to move graduation to the proposed raindate of Friday, June 4th at 5:30 pm on Leary Field.

By noon on the date of graduation, notification of rain delay will be made via Connect-Ed Call, Email, and the information will be posted on the district and high school websites. Once a decision to move the graduation to the rain date has been made, the change will be final.
