Chromebook Return & Closing your ab schools account

Members of the Class of 2024, 


As the end of your senior year approaches, we want to send important information about returning your Chromebook and transferring your information from your AB Schools account. Please read this information carefully. 


Requirements for Chromebook Return

According to the Chromebook Loan Agreement, you are expected to return your Chromebook with its corresponding accessories (charger and stylus) in working condition before returning your Chromebook; it is your responsibility to:


If your Chromebook is missing a charger or stylus, please complete this form and plan to purchase these accessories as soon as possible before returning the Chromebook. All replacement accessories must be the correct certified Lenovo accessories; therefore, we highly recommend buying replacements through the school store, as we offer them at a discounted rate for AB students, and they are already in stock. The replacement costs for these items can be found at the top of the form.  


Dates and Process for Chromebook Return

Once students have ensured that their Chromebooks have met the requirements above, there will be two dates when they can return them. All Chromebooks must be returned by Thursday, May 30th, at 3:00 PM. Senior teachers will inform students when they will no longer need their Chromebooks for their courses, and seniors should return their Chromebooks as soon as they are done using them for all classes. 


Please note: Each student will only be permitted to get their own Chromebook and will not be able to return a Chromebook on behalf of another student.


As students return their Chromebooks, our staff quickly inspects the device to ensure it is in working condition and contains the correct accessories. Please allow 10-15 minutes to return your Chromebook as our staff completes this process. Students who try to return their Chromebooks in non-working condition or without the appropriate accessories will not be permitted to turn them in. The student will then be charged the repair/replacement fee, which must be paid to complete the Chromebook return and receive their cap and gown for graduation.

Senior Internship Program Participants

If you are an internship student, you are encouraged to return your Chromebook to the Help Desk (Room 233S) before your last day of school, Friday, May 10th, at 3:00 PM. The Help Desk is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 AM-1:30 PM and Friday from 9:30 AM-12:30 PM. Otherwise, you must make arrangements with your internship placement to return your Chromebook during school hours. Please make sure your Chromebook meets the requirements listed above before returning it; otherwise, it may not be accepted.


Information about Borrowed Technology Equipment and Other Library Items 

If you have borrowed a Chromebook or charger from the library, you must return those items to the library (along with any other borrowed library materials) by the end of the day on Friday, May 24th, and you will be unable to borrow a Chromebook from the library after that day. Any students with outstanding library technology items or materials that are not returned will need to pay the replacement cost for these to receive their cap and gown for graduation.


Information about Closing your AB Schools Account

Throughout your educational career, you have had access to your Google Workspace for Education "ABSchools" account that you have used to create, share, and store your schoolwork. As you transition from high school, this is your notice that you will continue to have access to your ABschools account until August 31, 2024.  By providing you access throughout the summer, we give you time after you finish your classes to transfer your important information from your school account to a personal Gmail account and share any necessary files with your friends, colleagues, and teachers.  To help with the process, we have created a web page with the directions you will need. 


Taking your personal data out of ABschools is crucial to accessing it in the future.  Please understand that it is your responsibility to preserve all of your hard work and information. After August 31, 2024, you will no longer be able to access your AB Schools account; therefore, we highly encourage you to take time over the summer to transfer the contents of your account.
